Hybrid Tea: ELINA

Hybrid Tea: ELINA
I have about four dozen different rose bushes in my very small garden and many of them are show roses or roses I have planted with a view to entering the blooms into the local Rose Societies annual rose show.
Even with this talented group of bushes, there is still one that stands out. Not only is it my favorite but it is also a stunning rose show competitor.
Elina is a Hybrid Tea of light yellow color with a bloom of 30 to 35 petals. I personally think it is more of a lemon yellow because it seems to have a light touch of green. It has a very delicate fragrance and the A.R.S rates it as a very high 8.6
I must say that although the blooms are quite wonderful the bush itself leaves much to be desired. As with so many of these “Showy” roses the talent is in the bloom. The bush is spindly and susceptible to black-spot, and seems to grow in strange, often twisted shapes.
However, my favorite rose from amongst so many stars has to be Elina, the queen of the lemon yellows.
