The Wise Portia Rose is a very interesting mauve color. A beautiful blend of purple and red that is not only stunning and unusual, but a color you don't see very often. Very few roses have this color shade.
This is another of the beautiful English roses from David Austin.
The double, full blooms have delicate looking petals and golden yellow stamens. It is a continual, heavy bloomer, with purple and mauve colored blooms that are a standout in the garden.
It starts to bloom in late spring and continues until late summer.

The mauve colored blooms are very fragrant, and produced in abundance as long as you keep it well watered. It has a strong fragrance that smells a bit like baby powder and old tea rose.
These roses make excellent cut flowers. The flowers are long lasting in the vase, so don't be afraid to cut some for the house.
The color may be more on the mauve side in warmer weather, and more towards reddish in cooler temperatures.
The bush grows to around 3 1/2' and makes a nice arching shrub.
The above picture is from the bush I planted early this spring. It was an own-root band, that didn't take long to settle in and start blooming. It already has several more buds on the tiny bush. I planted it because of all the good things I heard about it, and expect good results with the Wise Portia rose. (I really do LOVE the color!)
