Deer Resistant Perennials

Deer Proof Plants for the Garden

Deer Resistant perennials are those plants and flowers that deer generally do not eat. If deer visit your garden, the best place to start is to plant varieties that deer don't particulary like. Keep in mind that very hungry deer, because of long, severly cold and snowy winters, that are unable to find favorable plants to eat, may still eat deer resistant ones. Generally the following plants are unfavorable to their taste buds. Hungry deer can be devasting to your garden. They usually feed at dusk, and in early evening. They come into the garden at times when you are not in the garden. Once they find a good spot to feed, they will return until the source is gone. It is a good idea to plant unfavorable ones to keep them away.

To ocassionally spot a deer in your yard,is a beautiful sight! It might find you scurrying in the house to grab your camera. Or you might simply stare, frozen in your tracks, at the sheer beauty of the creature. But when they become a pest, destroying all your hard work in the garden, you begin to eye them differently. The poor things are simply searching for food. Planting deer resistant perennials will discourage them from visiting your garden. And if they do stop by for a visit, they will continue on to a more favorable meal.
