Brother Cadfael rose, is one of David Austin's best! The pink cupped sumptuous blooms are among the largest of all English roses.
The deeply cupped flowers have in-curving petals that give it a sort of enclosed look .The pink roses have an old fashioned style with the look of a peony flower.
The fragrance on the Brother Cadfael rose is strong...like those of Bourbon roses.
The dark pink or crimson colored buds become a rich shade of pink double flowers that are a bit darker on the backs of the petals. The petals are thicker than most.

They have a wonderful old rose perfume to the flowers.
The flowers are borne both singly and in clusters of up to five. The blooms have short stalks, with lots of leaves around them.
These David Austin English Roses are quite vigorous. They are fast growers, but can sometimes be slow to repeat flowers.
The rose bush is sturdy, upright growing, and of average height.
It is more successful in cooler areas; in warmer climates it will grow larger, and can be used as a climber to around 8'. (Warmer climates will need to prune in the summer).
It is considered disease resistant, but can be susceptible to mildew.
This English rose was named after the hero of Ellis Peters detective stories. (Ellis Peters was a pen name for Edith Pargeter)
