The Blue Girl Rose, are large flowered Hybrid Tea roses. It's blooms are not "blue", but more close to a lovely shade of lavendar. Shapely flowers are borne singly on long cutting stems. You'll find pure lavendar colored blooms on the Blue Girl rose, that have a slightly paler patch of color on the base of the petal backs.
These Hybrid Tea blue roses were bred in Germany. Rosa 'Blue Girl' was named to honor "Kolner Karneval" the famous carnival held in Cologne, Germany. Unfortunately it is scarcely grown in Germany where it is known as "Kolner Karneval", but it is widely grown in the United States, known as "Blue Girl".

The classic, high pointed blooms of silver-lilac appear throughout the growing season. The flowers are very large, and full.
This rose does best in cooler weather. It is a vigorous grower, that repeats well. It is a strong grower, growing upright 4-5 feet. The bush is well foliaged, with large, glossy leaves. The foliage adds a nice contrast to the lovely lavender colored blooms.
The bush can, however be susceptible to Blackspot in damp climates. It has also been reported that Japanese Beetles are particulary attracted to these flowers, so if you live in a region where these garden bugs are a problem, you might want to Learn how to control Japanese Beetles.
